Description: Marie Laveau New Orleans Voodoo Queen by Gambina Doll with Tag & PlaqueOriginal Gambina doll hand straight from New Orleans, LA!This is Marie Laveau (1794-1881), a free woman born in New Orleans in 1794 to a white father and mixed race mother. She was a mother to 15 children and her profession was voodoo as well as being a hairdresser. She had the gift of mental telepathy, was able to foretell the future and would read minds. She mixed voodoo of Haiti with Christianity and went to St Louis Cathedral every day.The clothes she is wearing are reminiscent of the type of outfits she wore regularly, including the ruby pin used to close her blouse, gold hoop earrings and gold bracelets. She died in 1881 at age 87. In her later years she denounced voodooism and was given a Catholic burial. Included is her wood plaque with gold name plate (Copyright © C.V. Gambina Inc.1984). The gold plate has some age-related surface / scratch marks. See photos.Marie measures 14 inches in height. Stand is included. She feels like she is made of vinyl. She has “real” long brown wavy hair. Great outfit complete with shoes. Her head moves as does her arms and legs. She is in excellent condition. Her clothes have no rips or tears and the colors are bright and bold. Her blue skirt in particular looks like there is a little fading and a mark or two. See photos. My shipping charges are fair.I do not try to profit by overcharging for shipping
