Description: Mammillaria spinosissima, lot of 3 for sale here. Plants are in 3 inch pot with a single stem that is around 1 in diameter and near 3 inch high. M. spinosisima is is nicknamed the “red-headed Irishman” because the most common cultivated forms have red or rusted spine. Stem smile upright at first. later often clustering, up to 4 inch in diameter, almost hidden under a dense spination, and the stems can grow up to 2 ft long. Central and radial spines are all similar, about 30-34, pale glassy yellow with dark red or rusted tips. It might have some latex and bristles in the axils. The flowers are purple-pink. Originally from Guerrero, Mexico. Plant ships bare root. USA and her territories ONLY.
