Description: This is a historic engraving by the famous mapmaker and illustrator of world interests - MALLET. This is a work from his history / geography book "Description de l'Univers'" - this page is from the German Edition of the book - it features a view of citizens from the Ottoman Turkish Kingdom. It is labeled with "GRAND TYRC" in the illustration and features the German edition title above the illustration "der Grofs Turck". The engraving is approx. 6 1/4" by 7 3/4" and is from the 1685 German edition - it features fine wash hand colouring. A fine example of the work of Mallet and a great engraving from Mallet's work in depicting the people of Asia & Asia Minor in the 1600's. This is an original engraving - overall in very good condition - paper has typical aging wear - there are no major blemishes some light foxing to the paper / handling marks /blemish marks / uneven edge on one side as removed from original published volume - item is as pictured.
