Description: Martha Washington w/o her Wig & Son, John Parke Custis - 1951 History Print 1951 B/W-- SINGLE print with accompanying descriptive page (Reverse has unrelated text/image...not shown) General Charles Lee (American (born England), Darnhall, Cheshire 1732–1782 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) - The eccentric General Charles Lee was known for his slovenly appearance, and coarse language, and was rarely seen without his dogs. Born in England, Lee fought for the Americans during the Revolution; he was particularly valued for his previous experience in the British army. Captured by the British in 1776 while dallying in a tavern, Lee was released in time to lead a command at the Battle of Monmouth (June 28, 1778), during which he ordered a sudden and inexplicable retreat. Publicly reprimanded by General George Washington, Lee was eventually court-martialed and suspended from service for disobedience and misbehavior. After painting by Barham Rushbrooke (British, died 1728)From 1946-51 four-volume George Washington biography Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Some light age & handling wear..hint of corner bend Images that Capture American History - People, Places & Events Full Page Size: Approximately 6" X 8-1/2" SINGLE print - with accompanying descriptive pageReverse not shown Condition: Excellent - Very Good - Good - Fair - Poor (but of historical interest) Some light age & handling wear (slight corner bend) << Click Here to See Other History Prints >> This is an Original Print(s) - Not a ReproductionImportant: P/H is combined on multiple items that can be mailed together. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as illustrations to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques: relief printing (woodcut & wood engraving), intaglio printing (steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and planographic printing (lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.). While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty.
