Description: MAD MAGAZINE #200 July 1978 “This is our 200th issue! Big deal!” There are a number of Mad Magazine issues that proclaim anniversaries on the cover quite Proudly. This one they decided to play down apparently. I am sure some people collect the 100th, 200th, 300th, and 400th issues. I wonder how many graduate school theses have been written about Mad Magazine? I have now handled several issues of Mad Magazine that are comparatively new (only 40 years old) compared to some of the older ones I started out with (over 60 years old). There is quite a bit of difference between the two time periods. I wonder if the quality of the paper has been changed over the years. Apparently the publisher has changed but I will have to learn about the impact of those changes some other time. There is a book that claims to tell the history of the magazine and one is in the mail on its way to me. One day I will turn it up in the literally hundreds of pieces of Mad magazine mail now crowding my loft on the James River in Central Virginia. There will have to be an increase in the outgoing mail one day very soon to keep the creditors happy!
