Description: Model 1868 French Sword Bayonet with Scabbard. The spine is marked and dated April 1868. The brass guard is solid and shows typical wear. The blade is slightly sharpened, the tip is a little sharp, and has some minor age spots scattered throughout. Lock button is functional. The groove has "6D" and "16" in it. Length of the blade measures 22 5/8" (1 1/8" wide x 5/16" thick) and the bayonet overall is 27 1/2". The muzzle hole is 11/16". This example was made in April 1868 at the French State Arsenal, Manufacture Imperiale de Jr Etienne. T
