Description: Offered for sale is a pair of vintage Lowa Scout hiking boots. These were my wife's. The boots were purchased new in 1975 for $53.46. Sno-Seal was applied several times at the time of purchase, and the leather has not dried out. The boots have been stored indoors since purchase. These are heavy, stiff boots and require a lot of time to break in. These boots never fit my wife properly, and I would bet they do not have 200 miles on them and are still not really broken in. I am a bit perplexed about the sizing. Stamped inside the boot is 5 1/2M, and the outside of the box is stamped 5 1/2 M, theoretically a 7 or 8 women's size. My wife wore 8 women's size at the time. I believe that the 5 1/2 M was a men's size. I do not know what the 11M means on the tag (see photo), as these are definitely not 11M women's size, or men's. There is no separation of the Vibram sole from the welt, and they can be resoled, a real plus. These boots are very heavy, 2 pounds apiece! A word of caution to the buyer: these hiking boots can be hard to fit, because they are so stiff, at least initially. And if they do not fit, you can definitely get blisters. These boots really do protect your feet against stone bruising. They have not been worn in 35 years! By the way, the pebbles stuck in the treads came from a day hike in the Nordkette, north of Innsbruck, so many years ago it seems like a lifetime. I will accept returns up to two weeks after arrival for a refund, but the buyer will have to pay return shipping. Thanks for looking!
