They are relatively new (never worn), made with lapis lazuli composite. Lapis composite is made from left-over lapis-lazuli that has been pulverized, then mixed with resin to make a reconstituted stone. It is real lapis, just not in its natural state. They were most like simply made for sale in local souks to travelers as souvenir pieces, and may have mild irregularities - although these necklaces are mostly in very-good condition. The flexible neckband were cotton-lined for comfort, with ties for adjusting the length. They have a deliberately antiqued finish, giving them a vintage look even though they are new.
