Description: To the high bidder goes the pictured Lot of 39 JOURNAL DES DEMOISELLES French High Fashion ENGRAVING PRINTS... I know next to nothing of these pieces. Came to me in a big box of antique books & magazines won at what was primarily a breweriana estate sale (where no one seemed to know what these were). 30 minutes of online research led to me titling the lot as you see above; hopefully, I am close to accurate... What is readily observable to this naive observer follows... Of the 39 items, 29 are one-page and colored, with dates ranging from 1878 to 1899 (6 have no date I can find [see pics]). Six (6) are 2-page, centerfold pieces. Three color and three B&W. Dates are 1897 and 1899 (3 each year). Four (4) are larger gatefold centerfold pieces. All are B&W and dated 1878 and 1879 (two each year). All printed on a rather thick, moderately stiff paper. The backs are blank. CONDITION: See pics for condition. This is the exact item the winning bidder will receive. USED... All have at least a patch or two of light discoloration; with a few darker than others all over. Each also has one rough edge; I think inevitably due to having been manually removed from their original binding. Several have an edge tear or two; mostly small ones. The most significant issue with any of the 39 pieces is the tear along the center seam of one of the larger gatefold pieces (see last pic). Please inspect pics carefully BEFORE bidding and do not bid if you expect to receive items that are somehow "better" than the ones pictured and described here. NO RETURNS...
