Both volumes are in very pleasing condition, with just a hint of wear to the edges. Internally clean, with light browning to some leaves (see pictures). Binding sound and square in both volumes, with slight tenderness to the front hinges. A beautiful two-volume set. Scarce.The Shanachie was a lavishly-illustrated and loss-making quarterly magazine published by Maunsel in Dublin. It featured art by John Campbell, Hugh Thomson and Jack B Yeats, and contributions by Padraic Colum, James H. Cousins, Lord Dunsany, Stephen Gwynn, Susan Mitchell, Seamus O’Sullivan, George Roberts, Bernard Shaw, and W B Yeats.Two very uncommon issues of The Shanachie; an Irish publication from Dublin, published by Maunsel & Co. Each issues contains a Lord Dunsany story, "The Whirlpool" and "The Lament of the Gods for Sardathrion." The 2nd story appears to be uncollected in any later Dunsany edition. The story also does not appear in the Table of Contents. Soft, thick paper covers, heavy paper interior, in very good shape.
