This perfect specimen has hints of pale blue and white spots. Its wings have been gently spread and meticulously set within lucite, making it viewable from all sides. Its scientific name is Anoplophora chinensis. With a close look, this guy has some light blue coloration, giving it beautiful contrast. Long-horned Beetles typically have extremely long antennae which can be as long, or longer, than the beetleā€™s body. This beetle in resin is an excellent addition to any entomological collection or teaching aid. The longhorn beetles, sometimes called longicorns, are a large family of beetles, with over 35,000 different species. The scientific name of this beetle family dates back to Greek mythology: after an argument with nymphs, the shepherd Cerambus was transformed into a large beetle with horns. Most of the species are characterized by their extremely long antennae, which are usually as long as or longer than the beetle's body. Brand new lucite block measures approximately 3 inches square by 3/4 of an inch thick.
