Neocaridina Shrimp. A few more added extra for the possible few DOA. Our shrimp are bred and raised in the Southern California, United States in home tanks with natural, semi-hard, water from our local mountains. Care Instructions: 1. Aquarium Setup: Neocaridina shrimp thrive in a well-established aquarium with stable water parameters. A tank size of at least 5 gallons is recommended for a small colony. Use fine-grain substrate like sand or specialized shrimp substrates to prevent injury to their delicate antennae and legs. Provide plenty of hiding spots and natural decor, such as rocks, driftwood, and live plants. Java moss, Java fern, and Marimo moss balls are excellent choices, as they also serve as a food source. 2. Water Parameters: Maintain a temperature range of 68F to 78F (20C to 26C). Keep in mind that higher temperatures can increase their metabolism and shorten their lifespan. Aim for a pH level between 6.5 and 7.5, slightly acidic to neutral. The water hardness (GH) should be around 6 to 10 dGH, and carbonate hardness (KH) between 2 to 5 dKH. Regularly test water parameters to ensure stability and make necessary adjustments if required. 3. Water Quality: Perform regular water changes of about 10-20% every week to maintain pristine water conditions. Use a dechlorinator to remove harmful chlorine and chloramine from tap water. *Avoid using copper-based medications or treatments, as copper is toxic to shrimp*. 4. Feeding: Neocaridina shrimp are omnivores and will consume a variety of foods. Provide a balanced diet of specialized shrimp pellets, algae wafers, and high-quality sinking pellets. Supplement their diet with blanched vegetables like zucchini, spinach, or kale, as well as occasional treats like spirulina and dried leaves (e.g., Indian almond leaves). Feed sparingly to prevent overfeeding and remove any uneaten food after a few hours to maintain water quality.
