The book was originally published in 1932, and all subsequent printings of the first edition bore that same date, but those subsequent printings were actually printed in the 1940's and 1950's. This copy, for instance, bears a 1932 date, but the "F-B" code indicates an October, 1952 printing; about a decade before the book went to a second edition with a different illustrator and the publisher became "Harper and Row". The book comes wrapped in the highest quality facsimile of the first edition dust jacket, printed on coated heavyweight bond. The polymer coating on the paper ensures the brightest colors and sharpest prints, as the ink sits atop the paper rather than being absorbed into the fibers. Outside surface of the book is well-worn (please see pics). Intact endpapers bear a period bookplate. Binding is very tight and square. Text and illustrations are very bright and crisp with a couple light stains. The book measures approximately 8.5 x 7-inches.
