You are looking at a Lionel Limited edition freight set released in 1990 to celebrate Lionel's 90th Anniversary. Check out the fantastic colors on all of the cars, especially the locomotive. The gold overlay on the engine is also a fantastic touch. Each car features a different era of Lionel's iconic history. The set did not come with track and transformer. This set was also history itself; it was the first set released featuring Railsounds. It was so new, that they did not have buttons yet, so they had to include a letter, which is here, explaining how Railsounds works and how to make it work with your transformer, andhow you could mail in to get the activation button when it was ready. The set includes a diesel engine and five 6464 style cars and a bay window caboose. Each boxcar commemmorates an important event in the history of Lionel. INTERESTING FACTOID: The idea was for the Railsounds board to be in the engine; it is actually in the boxcar as the engineers had a tough time figuring out how to get it in the engine. All cosmetically like new. Engine tested and runs. Engine wheels do show run time, so listed as C-7 rather than C-8. Railsounds boxcar tested and works. Set box and all individual boxes are here. Engine looks excellent plus with some signs of use. Cars are all full excellent. The boxes are clean. The set box has some creases, rubs, shelfwear.
