Description: The German firm of JD Kestner, excelled at making bisque head dolls with realistic and evocative expressions. You can see that the expression and body shape of the original doll is captured in this reproduction displaying lifelike appeal. She is 18 inches tall. My mother bought this baby in the 1990's. She has been in the doll case since then and still looks new. The only flaw is that her bottom string has been stretched from sitting. Her limbs and head are movable but she may eventually need a string replacement. Her lips, brows and lashes are nicely painted and her brown eyes are glass. Her hair is naturally curly with plenty of locks. She wears a lacey eyelet embroidery blue and white print dress and is fully outfitted with shoes, sox and undies. I imagine she was bought nude and that my mother added the clothing. She holds a first place blue ribbon won in 1994. She is marked 'Made in Germany' on the back of her neck.
