Leptomeryx Deer-like animal white river formation oligocene epoch partial jaw

Description: Here is a neat little piece of lower jaw from a leptomeryx Deer. It is a partial lower jaw with a nice chunk of the left side intact. I prepped it and left it with the matrix on the bottom. My airblaster hasn't been working very well lately or I could have cleaned the teeth better. Cool display piece that sits nicely and measures about 1 x 1.5 inches. Cool fossil from the oligocene epoch.LeptomeryxFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaJump to navigationJump to searchLeptomeryx Temporal range: middle Eocene to Late Oligocene[1]Skeleton, Paleontology Museum of ZurichScientific classificationKingdom:AnimaliaPhylum:ChordataClass:MammaliaOrder:ArtiodactylaFamily:†LeptomerycidaeSubfamily:†LeptomerycinaeGenus:†Leptomeryx Leidy, 1853Type species†Leptomeryx evansi Species[2]†L. blacki†L. evansi†L. mammifer†L. obliquidens†L. speciosus†L. yoderiLeptomeryx is an extinct genus of ruminant of the family Leptomerycidae, endemic to North America during the Eocene through Oligocene 38–24.8 Mya, existing for approximately 13.2 million years.
