The abandoned workings at the Old Yuma near Tucson were like a training ground for many of Arizona's premier mineralogists and collectors a number of decades ago. Being too close to the suburban expansion of Tucson, the mine was reclaimed years ago. Wulfenite specimens from the Old Yuma are no longer seen frequently. This specimen is an example of a single crystal off matrix. The crystal has damage around its edges with beautiful faces of a non textbook tetragonal habit. It has a wonderful deep orange to yellow color. The Mineralogical Record Vol. 14, No. 3 (1983) has a great article on this mine.
