Description: A fantastic piece of early American Jewish history. Rabbi Landau was born in Poland, a descendent of the Chechenover Rabbi Avromele Landau. At age 18 he was ordained Rabbi and served in Breslau and Fieume, Germany. In 1921 he came to America and served in Boston as secretary of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America. Among his achievements, he established a kosher cafe at Harvard University and Beth Israel Hospital and served kosher banquets at hospitals across Boston. At his funeral, Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik was among those who eulogized him. He and his wife Mrs. Bluma (Katz) Landau are pictured in large cabinet photos in folders.
