Description: this fine antique Alaskan Inuit / Aleut coil wovern basket is oblong in size and appears to be a gathering basket. It has two swing handles that are suspended by leather tongs and are also bound in the same manner as the coils. It originally featured an attractive geometrical design with three colors including red (now faded) between the dark brown bands. It is in great condition with a little binding loss here and there on the coils. I think the basket dates to the mid 20th c. c. 1945-55. Stock Number SA2D-273
