Kacho-e prints are imbued with metaphorical significance and are rooted in Japanese culture's deep respect for nature. The print is primarily black and gray with an accent of a warm and soft orange tone seen in the sparrow's feathers and in the plum. Kono Bairei (1844-1895) born in Kyoto, studied classical Japanese painting and helped found the Kyoto Prefectural School of Painting. Barirei's makers stamp is present.
