Knize Vienna New York Bespoke Vintage (1962) Gray Wool DB Topcoat Size 42

Description: For your consideration is the rarest of the rare, a vintage topcoat/overcoat from Knize. This gem was ordered from their New York City store in 1962 for a gentleman whose family originated from Vienna, the home of Knize. Handmade of heavy wool that has a melton-like brushed finish -but softer than traditional melton-in a rich gray, this garment's classic lines ensure that it can be worn today and many more years to come. It is styled with a six button double-breasted front with unique fishmouth lapels, curved barchetta breast pocket and flapped pockets. It also features a plain center vent and sleeves. The shoulder is natural and the body has a bit of waist suppression while the length is just below the knee. Please note: this garment came from an estate and is listed as is and as shown. Any cleaning, pressing or alteration is the responsibility of the buyer. It is in excellent condition for its age and cannot be duplicated except by Knize's original shop, and only then with a very high price. I cannot be certain whether this coat was made in Vienna or NYC because it was common for firms with international outposts like Sulka to have makers on premise or locally. Regardless, the quality and authenticity of this vintage piece cannot be found today. Since this was a custom garment, the size 42 is an estimate.
