KILLER 1960s ELGIN CHRONOGRAPH, CLEAN VALJOUX 7733, GORGEOUS! GRAY CROC STRAP!

Description: This is a beautiful Elgin chronograph that I believe dates to to late 1960’s. This was purchased by a gentleman and was never worn... the watch sat in a jewelry box for decades because the man continued to wear his old watch! The 36mm case is unpolished, has crisp lines and no plating loss whatsoever! There are very light scuffs from storage, which is to be expected. The pushers and crown are also excellent. The original crystal is very nice. The back shows no signs of wear, but there are 2 scratches from a case opener. These aren’t terrible, but they exist. The dial is fantastic... it’s got the gold color that you’d expect, but the 2 sub dials are gray! A very cool contrast. The hands are perfect, including the red/orange chrono hand. The Valjoux 7733 chronograph movement has 17 jewels, and is absolutely pristine! This watch has been very well preserved, and the movement is the cleanest one I’ve ever seen. The watch winds, sets and runs strong. It is currently keeping accurate time, but should be serviced prior to regular use due to it’s long slumber. The chronograph function works as well, but it will stick at 12:00 when the actuating button is pressed. If you gently tap the case it will start and continue to run properly, but it doesn’t always start without help. This is 100% due to sitting for a long time, and a regular service will fix this issue. Aside from the sticky start, the chronograph runs, registers the proper elapsed time and will reset perfectly to 12:00 when the button is pressed. The stunning genuine crocodile strap is finished in gray to compliment the subdials, and looks PERFECT! Strap is new and only worn twice! This will make an excellent addition to any serious watch collection, and you simply don’t find original chronographs in this condition! Please see my other vintage watch listings
