Description: Description: A very good copy of this early reprint of the John Irving classic, inscribed and signed by the author in ink on the title page; "For Craig and Christina with the utmost affection John Irving." Irving's fourth novel published by E.P. Dutton, New York and this edition was distributed by Funk and Wagnalls, Inc. Condition: 8vo. 437 pages - Publishers' blue paper over cloth with gilt print to the spine. Some sunning to the edges. The front board is slightly cocked with a small bump to the upper rear corner and some softening to cloth at the spine tips. Aside from the Irving inscription the interior is clean and unmarked. The dust jacket is in very good condition and is not price clipped and states, "Original edition published at $10.95" on the upper front flap. A bit of chipping to the paper along the edges, fold and spine ends with a small, closed tear along the lower front cover. Overall, a very good and scarce signed copy of John Irving's most famous novel, a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction in 1979, and the first paperback edition went on to win the Award the following year. A few years later in 1982 Robin Williams would bring T.S. Garp to life on the big screen.
