Description: This lot includes three of the first four issues of Grant Morrison's excellent JLA (Justice League of America) (1997) series. Each issue comes from my personal collection, which was built through my local comic book shop (Showcase Comics in Bryn Mawr, PA). I bagged & boarded each issue immediately after purchasing & reading it, and they have been stored in a long box since then. I will ship the issues flat in a padded Jiffy pack. As noted earlier, I have never had any of these books professionally graded, but they are in great shape. The rest of my collection that's for sale can be found at www.ebay.com/usr/jmrgkm. If you are interested in combining listings to save on costs, please let me know what you're interested in, and I will absolutely work with you (please note that I am not willing to break up listings). If you have a particular comic book series that I don't have listed, feel free to message me, as I am in the process of listing the parts of my collection that are for sale. The descriptions below come from Overstreet. JLA (1997 series) issue #1: "Them!" A group of aliens calling themselves the Hyperclan come to Earth professing to be galactic saviors. Having witnessed their home world suffer great ecological destruction, they seek to prevent the same thing from happening on other worlds. The general populace of Earth immediately ingratiate themselves to the Hyperclan, but members of the super-hero community have concerns over the team's seeming generosity. To demonstrate their pledge to heal the Earth, the Hyperclan use their powers to turn the barren Sahara Desert into a veritable Eden. The Hyperclan also lend their power to the cause of law enforcement. However, instead of incarcerating criminals, they execute them. This is also supported by the general public. JLA (1997 series) issue #3: "War of the Worlds." The Hyperclan has Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman captured. They then also gather Flash (Wally West and Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner) With all of them ready to be put to death in the Flower of Carange it leaves only Batman to break into the Hyperclan's tower and discover their most dangerous secret. He then takes out half of them forcing Protex to step up the invasion plan. JLA (1997 series) issue #4: "Invaders from Mars." The stunning conclusion to the first story arc of the best-selling perennial title! How will The JLA respond to a threat that could destroy the world-and themselves? Read this issue and find out! Everything looked lost but with Batman still fighting the JLA had a chance. Superman realizes he is being mind controlled and fights back. Martian Manhunter reveals that he has been under disguise and attacks Primaid. While doing so he releases the rest of the JLA and a fight between the JLA and the White Martians begins and ends. It is then left to the Martian Manhunter to sentence the White Martians to life out their lives (unknowingly) as humans, trapped in their own minds.
