Description: This pair of Standing Liberties from Jido "Jack"s collection is a fine addition to any coin enthusiast's collection. The coins are made of 0.9 fineness silver and struck in Philadelphia during the 1929-30 years. The coins are circulated and come are denominated 25 cents, which is equivalent to a quarter dollar. The trends on this pair are about 100. The coins are uncertified and have not been graded, but they are very fine and choice extra fine. The KM Number is 141. These coins are a variety from short series of Standing Liberty, and they are perfect for anyone who is looking to expand their collection. Jido gave me coins to market for him as they are really too heavy and troublesome to move around everywhere. Jido (Grandfather in Syrian) Jack [for Ya’oub] is up everyday at 2AM reading, reflecting and writing about his 93 years of experience and study. He has a hard time walking around and balancing and can no longer drive a motor vehicle. Nevertheless, he makes the best coffee and hot cereal. He does at least 1.5 miles per day (laps) in the swimming pool and works out with light weights a few times per week. His acumen and wit is as sharp as any college professor and enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great (and another great) grand nephews, nieces and their friends as well. If you speak good Arabic, we can hook you up! Part 2: Practically at Birth, Jido’s family emigrated from Syria to the far east for economic reasons. The Filipines was one of their first stops to their destination in the USA. Most circulation coins then were minted in San Francisco, California. Ali & Mila (Jido’s parents) along with 3 children Sami, Ya’oub and Margha were selling their porcelain trinkets and wares within their small concession space of a novelty store in Manitou Springs, Co. On the afternoon of Dec 7, 1941 after the public heard about the infamous attack on Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, all providers of Japanese products were unwelcome anywhere in town. Being of middle eastern descent, comments like “get back on your dirty camel and ride the H-ll out of here” and all kinds of expletives were thrown at the family. No one in town was interested in doing business with them. They had to go further west to try and make a living. They got on the train but only had enough to pay for 2 fares. They traveled with all their wares tied in cloths and carried in their backs. The kids had to stow away under the passenger seats while the conductors looked the other way. Aunt Jemila was waiting for them in San Francisco, in a small apartment situated over her “little baby shop” in the mission district.
