Jean- Pierre Cassigneul studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was an exhibiting member of the Salon d‘Automne. Jean- Pierre Cassigneul is noted as a painter, illustrator and printmaker. Cassigneul‘s subject matter includes figures and portraits and he is most known for paintings and printed workthat feature beautiful and sophisticated women, especially the glamorous and fashionable women who lived in Paris during the 1920‘s. The artwork is signed in pencil by the artist at the lower right hand corner as ˋCassigneul´. The letters written at the lower left hand corner as ˋE.M.´refer to the artwork as being a trial print pulled for the artist to approve before the final design is printed and published. The letters E.M. are not often used to designate an artist‘s proof. More common abbreviations to note that a print is a proof can read as ˋA.P.´ (artist‘s proof) or ˋE.A.´ (epreuve d‘artiste). ˋL‘aigrette bleue’ was published in 1974 in a limited edition of one- hundred- fifty signed and numbered lithographs.
