But there is a trend towards oil paint with modern Japanese artists. The rising sun is also a Japanese theme throughout their history. In addition, Japanese paintings tend to show more movement than Chinese paintings that tend to be very still (sometimes one dimensional). That is not a criticism at all, just my own observation. Lastly, Chinese artists paint upon silk and rice paper more commonly than Japanese artists. This painting is painted upon canvas. The colors are truly bold and wonderful.
