In addition, the first day cover is originally signed by Monte Irwin. A great collectable. Robinson became a Brooklyn Dodger on April 15, 1947, breaking the color barrier in baseball. Monte Irwin, who signed the stamp cover, also was a Negro League player from 1938 to 1948, before becoming a San Francisco Giant from 1949 to 1955. Irwin was a 1954 World Series Champion and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1973.
