The Mano Cornuto – literally, "horned hand" – is an Italian hand gesture of ancient origin, in which the index and pinkie fingers are extended while the middle and ring fingers are curled into the palm and sealed with the thumb. The shape is meant to evoke the image of horns. Some believe it symbolizes the “poking out the eyes” of the Malocchio – the curse of jealousy and envy that people could silently wish upon you with their gaze.
