Description: A major rarity from Ireland. This 1942 6P in NGC PF63 grade is a discovery coin which we recently had graded by the service. Needless to say after one views the photos, NGC was certainly conservative on the grade here. NGC previously had seen just 2 coins of this type and designation since they opened their doors for grading decades ago. This coin now marks only the third piece of this excessively rare early proof 6P. NGC PF63.Before Ireland decimalized its currency in 1971, the Irish currency was based on the pound, shilling, and pence system. The pre-decimal Irish coinage included various denominations with distinct designs and compositions.
