Intercoat clear is essentially a clear form of basecoat which allows you to add color effects for custom paint applications. Our intercoat clear may be mixed 2-1 or 1-1 depending on spray preference and the effect you are trying to achieve. This product dries and tapes quickly like basecoat. However, It is not designed as a final topcoat clear for exterior applications so it must be clearcoated with a durable two part urethane clearcoat. Other Clearcoat Options 2K Medium Solids (MS) PolyUrethane Clear Our 2K MS Clear is a durable high gloss finish that dries quickly and polishes easily. We generally recommend 3-4 coats of this clear for restoration work where wet sanding and buffing is required. 2K High Solids (HS) Urethane Clear Our 2K HS Glamour Clear is a higher solids clear which means you get more film build per coat resulting in a deeper, wetter finish with fewer coats of material. The downside is this clear is a little harder to spray than the MS clear. Restoration professionals tend to prefer this product. Low Gloss Urethane Clear Our low gloss clear is designed to give cool low gloss sheen looks. In fact we offer it in 4 gloss sheens; flat, matte, satin, and semi gloss. How fast does it dry?Intercoat clear dries fast like basecoat. It generally can be taped and re-coated within 30 minutes.Can this clear be used as my final clear? No, this clear should be used like a basecoat. It must be clearcoated for extrior use.
