Beatrice Webb was an active member of the Fabian Society, co-authoring many books and pamphlets, including this title with her husband Both are buried at Westminster Abbey Industrial Democracy had an impact on the British labor movement at the time and socialist movements worldwide. The book was translated into many languages, including into Russian by Vladimir Lenin, the year following English publication. This copy was later owned by Charles Adams Gulick, a professor of University of California, Berkeley Department of Economics from 1926-63. Guilick wrote extensively on labor (his doctoral thesis, Labor Policy of U.S. Steel Corporation, was published by Columbia University in 1924) , with his writing culminating in the work he is best known for, Austria From Habsburg to Hitler, published in 2 volumes by University of California in 1948. He has added his name on the title page of both volumes Both volumes are in good vintage condition. Age toning to paper edge. Solid binding. Shelf and handling wear to cloth and cover edges.
