Description: This edited collection by leading Australian Aboriginal scholars uses data from the Longitudinal Study of Indigenous Children (LSIC) to explore how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are growing up in contemporary Australia. The authors provide an overview of the study, including the Indigenous methodological and ethical framework which guides the analysis. They also address the resulting policy ramifications, alongside the cultural, social, educational and family dynamics of Indigenous children's lives. Indigenous Children Growing Up Strong will be of interest to students and scholars in the areas of sociology, social work, anthropology and childhood and youth studies. Maggie Walter is Professor of Sociology and Pro Vice-Chancellor Aboriginal Research and Leadership at the University of Tasmania. She is a long term member of the LSIC steering committee. She descends from the pairrebenne people of North Eastern Tasmania. Karen L. Martin is Associate Professor in the School of Education and Professional Studies, Griffith University. She is Deputy Chair of the LSIC steering committee. She is a Noonuccal woman with Bidjara ancestry. Gawaian Bodkin-Andrews is Associate Professor within the Centre for the Advancement of Indigenous Knowledges, University of Technology Sydney and has developed an interest in Indigenous perspectives on racism and statistics. He is also a member of the National Indigenous Researchers and Knowledges Network. He identifies with the D'harawal nation.
