Description: This lantern clamp / vise is designed for use with 6 - 6 1/8" INCH DIAMETER FOUNT BASE LANTERNS. 4 predrilled 1/4” holes for removable drop in pins or permanent mounting on your workbench and other flat surfaces, wood clamps may also be used. Made from 3/4” MDF these units are strong and yet economical. 1/8” real leather lines the clamp ring to easily hold the fount for removing and installing those stubborn tight fittings. This vise will change the way you work on your collection and repairs. With this much easier, user friendly lantern vise, the chances of damaging your product is significantly reduced. This vise, clamps the entire diameter of the fount and significantly reduces, if any, slippage. The unit measures 15” x 12” x 2” and burnt wood look with clear coat. Why do I make these? Because I cannot find anything to hold my lanterns without damage of some sort. As a avid lantern collector, I enjoy bringing them back to life. There’s nothing like the smell and sound of a pressure lantern. After working on hundreds, standard ways of clamping and needing a third hand are over. I designed this to help all of us with our addiction. I’ve tested it over and over by clamping a junk fount and taking a good size strap wrench to it. I have yet to have a fount move on me. The unit does need to be secured with all four holes. If it shows out of stock please message as I will keep making these as I can. More user friendly Hex Star threaded knobs are added along with push pull handles. Knobs and handles may vary due to supplier pricing / design. Lanterns and mounting hardware not included of course. Note: I am coming across some Ash Flash Models that are slipping slightly. This is due to manufacturing tolerances in the fount which have measured different from one another. If you are having an issue with this add a removable thin non marring shim of some sort, leather preferably, to one or both side(s) of clamp half then tighten.
