Description: HUGE! Tonka Silver Edition Dump Truck - 25th Anniversary of Mighty Tonka Line, 1990. New in box, never opened. Estimated dimensions of toy: 16"L x 10"H x 8"W. In its packaging, it weighs close to 7 lbs, and in its shipping carton it weighs over 9.5 lbs. Quoted shipping rates include my seller shipping discount, but the hefty size of this item will dictate a higher shipping cost nevertheless. I have no control over the costs. I choose the carrier (USPS Ground Advantage) and enter the weight and dimensions of the parcel, and eBay's shipping calculator does the rest based on the buyer's zip code. I don't know the scale of this toy, but it is shown in the second photo with a standard ruler and a 1:64-scale toy for relative size. This is the last of the new, unopened, and oversized toys from my dad's vast collection. It was stored since purchase in an attic closet, where it collected a bit of ambient dust over the decades, but was otherwise untouched and not exposed to light. Prospective buyers, please view all photos and read the following description in its entirety, including the shipping caveat. Tonka produced this Silver Edition of its dump truck in 1990 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its Mighty Tonka line which was introduced in 1965. The box proclaims "Beautiful, Lustrous Metallic Finish...Made with Steel...Made in USA." Also on the box, it was noted that the toy was safety tested and met or exceeded the "requirements of ASTM F963-86." Appropriate for ages 3 and up. The part of the toy visible through the cellophane window appears flawless, including its decals, which are holding fast. A promotional card advertising a $25K scholarship lies on the floor of the box and is partly curled. As with any vintage toy sealed in its original packaging, I cannot verify or guarantee what the toy looks like on the hidden side. The cardboard box is in good shape and showing very little wear. Note, the box has a granite-like graphic on it, so what might appear to be scratches and blemishes is just the 'marbling' effect of the graphic itself. The cellophane window is the noisy type that buckles easily. It is dusty and smudged, but intact as of this writing. There is a 5" permanent vertical mark in the middle of the cellophane, visible in the last photo. The mark is rough to the touch, but it didn't penetrate the cellophane, so it did not rip. Ebay's quoted shipping rate on my listings now reflects my seller's shipping discount. Shipping caveat as related to toy's packaging: to access the toy, one must compromise the box itself, as the box ends are glued shut. There is no flap to open and tuck back in, so no way to get inside to reinforce the contents for shipping (or to silence the metal from clanging). Even though I've constructed a made-to-fit shipping container from a repurposed box, the toy could still shift inside its own packaging and could potentially damage the cellophane and/or the cardboard from the inside out. For this reason, the buyer will hold the seller harmless if the original packaging is damaged during transport. I'm confident the toy itself will be impervious to normal parcel handling. It is a Mighty Tonka after all. For what it's worth, I sold a similar-sized Tonka recently, and the buyer's review said "Seller went out of there [sic] way on packaging excellent job on scale of 1 to 10 its an 11." I am a hobby seller, not a dealer.
