On the morning of the wedding, his new father-in-law, King George VI, bestowed on Philip the title "H.R.H. THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH". This issue commemorates Philip and Elizabeth's Platinum Wedding Anniversary. Prince Philip was born on Corfu, Greece, in June 1921, and was the youngest child and only son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark, and Princess Alice of Battenburg. He was also a grandchild of British Queen Victoria. This superbly-produced sheet is one of the few dedicated solely to Prince Philip. It was issued for the Republic of Tchad in 2017. Philip is usually commemorated on stamp images showing his famous wife, Queen Elizabeth II, who ascended to the British Throne in 1952. The most eye-catching aspect of the souvenir sheet is Philip's seldom seen (on stamps) Coat of Arms, emblazoned with his motto, "GOD IS MY HELP", and also the white-on-blue cross, representing Greece, his country of birth.
