This is the first watercolor I've done of this famous hotel. This fabulous hotel is one of the few surviving examples of a significant American architectural genre: the wooden Victorian beach resort. This hotel opened in 1888. At that time, it was the largest hotel in the world. It boasts celebrity guests as well as presidents and royalty. The hotel has been featured in numerous movies, including Some Like it Hot, my all time favorite comedy with Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis, and Marilyn Monroe. DETAILS: This watercolor is painted on acid free professional watercolor paper that measures 11 X 14. It is signed in watercolor the artist, K Jones (Kristi Jones) in the lower left hand corner. About the artist: Kristi Jones (formerly Kristi Diaz) was raised by artistic parents, both having art degrees. Her father has placed (numerous times) in the top tenth percentile in state and federal duck stamp art contests, and her mother has sold work at a local gallery. Kristi studied art at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts (NOAFA), and is also self-taught. She has sold work at local shows and galleries, and has exhibited in shows in New Orleans and in northwest Caddo Parish, including Centenary College's Meadows Museum of Art and Artspace in downtown Shreveport. In 2011, she was awarded a visual arts grant from the Shreveport Regional Arts Council (SRAC). In 2015, she was commissioned to create 29 paintings for the new University Medical Center in New Orleans.
