Description: Presented today is this beautiful Hopi Kachina doll, depicting Sotungtaka, the Corn Dancer Uncle Kachina. He is said to be a recent Kachina, imported from Santo Domingo Pueblo. Because he carries a gaming hoop, he is sometimes also called the Gambler Kachina. Standing 7 and a half inches tall, he is carved by Elgean Joshevama, a carver of transcendent technical skill. Most of the doll is a single piece carving, and the slender quality of the figure creates an almost surreal appearance. One-piece carving has always been a trademark of Elgean's work, and this is a fine example of his artistry. It is an exquisite piece and will be a lifelong treasure. Do not let this golden opportunity slip by. This is your chance to acquire a beautiful example of contemporary carving. Sincere Congratulations in advance to the very lucky buyer, and as always, Best Regards, Rich
