Holset HX40s are one of the best medium frame turbos out there, combining power, spool, bulletproof reliability, and massive value for money. And this version is the greatest of them all, the rare and almost legendary HX40 Super.There's a lot of myth and talk about what a HX40 Super is, but the reality is it's simply a HX40 that uses all the best production HX40 parts in one turbo. In the case of this turbo, it's the biggest 60mm inducer compressor wheel, and most importantly, and most rare, the super high flow and fastest spooling 10 blade turbine wheel, rather than the standard 12 blade, or the less common 11 blade. HX40s are ideal for 1.8 to 3ltr petrol engines, and diesels from 2.5ltr to 6ltr, and with the 16cm housing version like this one proven to see positive boost by 2200rpm, 15psi by 3500rpm, and 30psi by 4300rpm even on a small 1.8ltr 4cyl engine using a twin scroll manifold setup, these are very fast spooling considering their size! When pushed hard these units have made as high as 700bhp on 4G63s in the USA, but generally most run them around the 600 horsepower range, which they make very easily. This version is a HX40W, so internal wastegate, but if you wish to run an external wastegate we can weld the wastegate closed for you free of charge. Similarly, if you want to run this on a single scroll manifold, we're happy to smooth off the divider for free also. One big advantage of this one is it comes with ALL the potential extras you may need- The compressor outlet flange and clamp, turbine inlet and outlet flanges and gaskets, and even a 2mm turbo oil restrictor.
