This botanical illustration, drawn on June 30, 1901, more than 120 years ago, delicately depicts a pale purple flower growing sideways and a flower stalk that stretches out and curves back. Unusually for Dr. Makino's botanical illustrations, the background is painted black. For the cousin size cover, a pretty blooming Kousinsou is printed by inkjet on off-white cotton.
