Description: When I commenced this work, it was my intention to trace my own lineage only, but a cousin, L.V. McWhorter of Yakima, Washington, persuaded me to make a study of the McWhorter family in general in America. I finally consented, and in 1924 I began to line up the McWhorters as best I could. Had I realized the enormous task I had undertaken I fear I would not have gone into it. However, the deeper I got into it the more intensely interesting it became.
