Students started each day with 9:00am "Morning Collection," reciting Bible verses. Then Master Henry Hoxie, Principal, would read from the scripture, there would be morning classes, a walk home for lunch, and more classes in the afternoon. There were no sports, no teams, no music, no dances, no drama; and classes six days a week and on both Thanksgiving and Christmas.1885From the School Committee: "Pupils are expected to be courteous in speaking to one another and respectful to their teachers; to avoid all harsh, rude or bad language and to keep strictly to the truth in all they say or do...it is earnestly desired that all who are admitted to the School will abstain from attending entertainments, whether of a public or more private character that are inconsistent with the well known objections of the Society of Friends to dancing as well as musical or theatrical exhibitions."
