Historic General Swedish Agricultural Meet OREBRO SWEDEN WINDMILL 1911 Fashion

Description: Orebro is the sixth-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Orebro Municipality and capital of Orebre County. It is situated by the “Narke Plain”, near lake Hjalmaren , a few kilometers inland along the small river Svartan, and has a population of approximately 126,000 in the city proper. It is one of the largest inland hubs of the country, and a major logistic and commercial operating site. The Orebro region is called “The Heart of Sweden”. Windmills are a type of traditional vertical axis wind turbine used for centuries to grind grain or pump water. Windmills, much like waterwheels, were among the first prime movers that supplanted humans as a source of power. Beginning in the 12th century and continuing into the early 19th century, there was a steady increase in the number of windmills operating across Europe and were common across Sweden. I was not able to find any information or images of this particular windmill. It looks to be more than a grain grinder, maybe a hotel, restaurant, with an observation level with windows. It is connected to another building to the rear. There are three women and a gentleman standing on the porch. Caption on the reverse “Allamanna Svenska Landtbruksmotet’, translates to “General Swedish Agricultural Meeting” The card is credited to Axel Eliassons, Konstforlag, Stockholm and dated 1911. It is in good condition with minor wear on the corners and a clean, clear image and reverse.
