The upper half is decorated with a scene of two songbirds perched on a branch with the fabled necklace. 3 butterflies are below and on each side of the bird scene. The box opens horizontally. Three butterflies decorate the lower half. The blue Herend stamp can be found the base, along with the pattern number in blue: Handpainted Herend Hungary 6052/RO 187 where RO stands for Rothchild pattern. Herend porcelain items consistently going up in price. Good investment! The Herend Rothschild pattern is one of the most well known to come out the factory. Originally designed in 1850, it was inspired by the story of Baroness Rothschild, who much to her despair, lost her pearl necklace while walking in the garden.
