Description: A 2016 Re-Issue CD with new artwork including different photos in CD booklet. This is a limited pressing of only 500 CDs. This CD was originally written to be Brian Vollmer's solo CD. Most of the tracks were written by Brian and Marc Ribbler, On the previous Helix CD Back For Another Taste it was Vollmer and Ribbler who, together had written one of the band's biggest hits-Good to the Last Drop. Because Paul Hackman was having serious writer's block coming up with the next Helix CD, Vollmer and his manager William Seip decided that Brian should continue his writing collaboration with Ribbler and put out a solo CD while the Helix CD was being written. Towards the end of the project Hackman was tragically killed in an auto accident returning from a western Canadian tour. It was at this point in the band's career that Vollmer was faced with the decision of folding Helix or carrying on in a new direction. After all, grunge was now starting to kill the metal scene, gigs were drying up, and the members of the band were now all middle age. After much discussion between Seip and Vollmer, they made the decision to carry on with the tunes Vollmer had written with Ribbler, making them the new Helix album, but at the same time taking somewhat of a left hand turn direction wise. This decision would turn out badly for the band. Even though the CD earned 3 Top 40 hits in Canada (That Day is Gonna Come/Look Me Straight in the Heart/and Tug of War) fans were turned off by what they viewed as the band selling out. This was an unfortunate outcome. As Vollmer has since stated, "...the really disappointing thing about this CD was that I thought the tunes were very well written and I was very proud of them, especially the song Tug O' War. But with every band that has longevity there is bound to be an album or two that ventures from the beaten path. Look at Neil Young for example... On one hand fans want something new; on the other hand they want you to stay exactly the same. What they really want is just good songs..." The CD ended up losing some of the old followers of the band but also gaining a whole new audience. The first singe That Day Is Gonna Come got tremendous airplay but unfortunately very few people knew it was Helix. A little bit about the songs: That Day Is Gonna Come was inspired many years previously when Helix played a club in New York State called Desidereos. Paul and Brian had been looking at all the outdated band promo shots on the wall of the downstairs dressing room while musing, "...I wonder what ever happens to all these people that don't make it..." They thought there was a song in that. This tune is really a story of Hackman's and Vollmer's life. Interesting to note are the guest appearances on this disc: Lee Aaron sings a duet with Brian on "Look Me Straight In The Heart" and Kim Mitchell plays the lead solo in Sleepin' In The Doghouse Again. Molly Johnson (Juno Award Winner) sings most of the background vocals. With a catalogue of music that spans a history of over 30 years. With 5 gold and 2 platinum albums under their belt and millions of records sold around the world. The last time Helix toured Europe was with KISS in 1983 and in 1988 with Ian Gillan. Helix also appeared in Sweden June of 2005 at the Sweden Rock Festival. Helix appeared on the 2015's MONSTERS OF ROCK BOAT CRUISE with some of the biggest and brightest metal/hard rock stars of the 80s'.
