Description: This is a one-of-a-kind, helical, ouroboros wall hanging. Each scale was individually hand-punched, and the overall project took over a hundred hours for completion. One serpent is covered in 24 karat gold leaf (will not tarnish), and the other is covered in pure copper leaf with a verdigris patina, which has been sealed with a matte-finish. The eyes are set with rubellite quartz, and the mushrooms have been lightly dusted with gold mica dust. The entire sculpture has been treated with a dark walnut stain. This piece has been modified to house a mirror, if the purchaser wishes to add one. For the Gnostics, the cyclic nature of the serpent symbolizes the concept of eternity and the essence of the world itself. This wall hanging serves as a reminder that we are temporal bodies in a temporal world, and that our time here is meant to be brief. It also serves as a reminder that the means of coming to this understanding coexist with us in this temporal realm.
