Description: Harriman Alaska Expedition Vol. II - History, Geography, Resources. By William H. Dall, Charles Keeler; Henry Gannett; William H. Brewer; C. Hart Merriam; George Bird Grinnell; M. L. Washburn. Published by Doubleday, Page & Co., New York, 1901. First edition. Green ribbed cloth over boards with nice decoration in gilt on front, title in gilt on spine. Top edge of pages gilded. In its original cloth-covered dust jacket. 7" x 10 1/4." 383 pages plus 1 colored map, 43 nice black & white plates and 19 beautiful color plates. Each plate with tissue guard. Condition: Very light rubbing to boards and spine, light wear to extremities. Pages lightly yellowed, a few finger prints, small area of damp-staining on outer edge of six leaves. Browning and light wear along deckle page edges. The Fuertes bird plates have some browning, due to the type of paper they were printed on and a few of them have small chips along outer edge. Frontispiece tissue has pulled loose (still present). The tissue from one of the color plates had stuck to a portion of the illustration and a previous owner tore the tissue, leaving an area of tissue (approx. 3-inches by 1-inch) stuck to the illustration. The dust jacket is scuffed and has wear to edges, 1-inch tear on front flap fold. A very good book in a good dust jacket. Binding tight and square. Pages clean. Plates fresh and vibrant looking.
