The inside image area is 18 5/8" by 14" wide. The print image area is approximately 13 3/4 tall, by 9 3/4 wide. They are double beveled mattes, with the inside matte as a gold accent. The prints are both early depictions of the jolly old soul we have come to know as the modern Santa Claus. The start of Christmas as we know it in this country today can be traced back to 1820. One of the prints is titled "Christmas Puck" The other is a illustration by Thomas Nast, probably the one single artist responsible for refining, and defining, Santa Claus as we now know him today. Both prints are from a time in our country when the Christmas/Holiday season was in its commercial infancy. If you are a collector of the commercial artwork of the late 1800s, or a collector of historical holiday memorabilia, what a wonderful addition theses beautifully framed prints would make to your collection.
