The daily strip, a single panel gag, was in print from 1944 to 1985. The Sunday strip was in print from 1948 to 1980. When Al Fagaly died in 1963, Warren Whipple assumed the art production. Shorten left the strip in 1970 and Frank Borth assumed the scripting. In 1981, Mort Gerberg took over the art and also picked up the writing duties in 1983.
