Description: Gwen Frostic was an American artist, entrepreneur, author, and Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame inductee. She was born in 1906 and died in 2001. She is known for her naturalist, Linocut block print artwork, created using Original Heidelberg Platten presses. She also founded Gwen Frostic Prints, a studio and shop in Benzonia, Michigan, where she lived and worked for most of her life. She donated millions to Western Michigan University, which named its School of Art after her. She was a nature lover and an advocate for people with disabilities. Gwen was one of nine children and was stricken with polio at an early age.
